Imja Tse peak, at a height of 6,160 meters, is more popularly known by the name of Island Peak. The peak was named Island peak by Eric Shipton?s party in 1953, as the peak resembles an island in a sea of ice when viewed form Dingboche. Later in 1983, the peak was renamed as Imja Tse.

The peak was first ascended in 1953 by a British team as preparation for climbing Everest. Tenzing Norgay was one of the members who successfully ascended it.

The peak is part of the south ridge of Lhotse Shar and the main land forms a semicircle of cliffs that rise to the north of the summits of Nuptse, Lhotse, Middle Peak and Lhotse Shar. Cho Polu and Makalu lie to the east of the Island Peak. Baruntse, Amphu and Ama Dablam lie to the south.

Day to Day Itinerary for Everest Base Camp Trek

Day1 Kathmandu:
Upon your arrival in Kathmandu, Green Globe Travels and Tour will officially greet and meet you at Airport & transfer you to Delux Hotel . You will have leisure time, followed by an evening welcome dinner at a typical Nepalese Restaurant. Overnight in Kathmandu (1,000m/3,280ft).
Day 2 Fly to Lukla (2840 m.) and walk to Phakding (2610 m.) about 3 hours
Day 3 Walk to Namche Bazar (3440 m.) about 5 hours
Day 4
 Walk to Khumjung (3780 m.) about 3 hours (Acclimatize day)
Day 5
 Walk to Tengboche (3860 m.) about 4 / 5 hours
Day 6
 Walk to Dingboche (4410 m.) about 4 / 5 hours
Day 7
 Acclimatize day in Dingboche
Day 8
 Walk to Lobuche (4910 m.) about 5 / 6 hours
Day 9
 Walk to Gorak Shep (5140 .m) and to Kala Patthar (5550 m.)  and back to Lobuche about 3 / 4 hours, Walk to Dingboche (4410 m.)
Day 10
 Walk to Chukkung (4730 m.) 2 - 3 hours and rest day for preparation
Day 11-15
 6 Days program for climbing Island Peak

 Arrive Chhukung
Day 16
 Walk to Tengboche about 4 / 5 hours
Day 17
 Walk to Namche Bazar about 5 / 6 hours

 Walk to Lukla about 6 / 7 hours

 Fly back to Kathmandu in the morning and free day
